Why Should We Really Read Books?

Are you looking for why we should read books?
Do you wonder if they actually help?
Are you looking to get better at reading?

All those questions and more will be answer throughout this post so enjoy ūüôā

Why should we read books?

Before I answer that question let me pose the reality for you.

Things are constantly going into our mind whether we like it or not. ¬†Thoughts and ideas are constantly going into our minds whether we actually realize it or not. ¬†It is just like eating and nutrition. ¬†Something is always going in (if its not you probably won’t be with us for much longer) ¬†and you are always getting an output by it. ¬†Good or bad your body is a direct reflection of what you eat. ¬†The same goes for what you are putting into your mind.

The question that begs now is what is going into your mind?

If you’re not exactly sure then you honestly need to start reading books, good books.

Even if you’re not reading things are going into your mind and given the current society today the majority probably is great info.

This is exactly why we should always be reading books.  Positive and uplifting books that inspire and motivate us to do great things with our lives is what I recommend, but that is only if you want to have the best life you possibly can.

Does It Actually Help To Read Books?

Yes and no.

Let me explain.

It helps if you are reading quality books (yes I am going to harp on this)

It helps if you are consistently reading these books (yes everyday)

It does NOT help if you are not staying consistent. ¬†It does not count if you are reading once a week. ¬†It doesn’t even count if you are reading every other day. ¬†It only counts if you read¬†every single day! ¬†It is far better to read for 10 mins a day 7 days a week than it is to read 1 hour 1 day a week. ¬†Anyone can put aside 10 mins a day to much on some brain knowledge.

When you do this then you will soon become a spitting image of these books.  Trust me when I say you want this.

These authors are some of the most successful people in the world.

Here are some of my favorite:

  • Success Principles by Jack Canfield
  • Secret Code of Success by Noah St. John
  • Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T Harv Eker
  • The 50th Law by 50 Cent & Robert Green
  • Psycho Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz
  • Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
  • Outwitting The Devil by Napoleon Hill

Readers are leaders.  People who read a lot typically make lots of money.

Now I will give you 3 ideas that have specifically helped me at reading:

1.  Read easy books

In addition to reading all these personal development books you also want to read quick novels that are just pleasant to read.  You will get in a better habit of scrolling down the page.  Attempt to read a line faster each time as well.  Obviously the quicker you read the more info you can pack into your beautiful little mind.  Fiction books are good to read right before you go to bed as well because it calms your mind.

2.  Speak about what you just read

This will drastically help with comprehension.  This was something that I struggled with greatly.  I would read and then have no idea what my eyes were just gazing upon. Talk to yourself or whoever wants to listen about what you just read.  Do this.  I dare you.

3.  Listen to audiobooks

This is actually one of my favorites.  I now do this most of the time because I can take notes while I read and it is actually faster because I can speed up the pace.  Man technology is a god send at times!

I hope you enjoyed this post on reading and why we should do it.
